Creating Awareness of Waste Plastic and Segregation at Source – Since 2014- Till date. The trust has completed more than 1550 awareness programs in last ELEVEN years. Face to face seminars were conducted in many schools, offices, housing societies, clubs etc. Since Covid -19 pandemic the awareness is conducted online.

The idea behind the project is to make the villages Smart, and waste management plays a big role in the scheme. Organic waste and the plastic waste create problems for rural India. The waste may not be picked up, and if it is then usually itis in the mixed form, which is dumped and burned.

The project is devised with the following objectives.

  • Reduce waste / use waste as resource - Waste is a useful resource which can be convertedinto energy which can be used locally. It is always a better option than throwing waste inlandfill or burning it.
  • Energy Independence – Villages can use the energy produced by organic and plastic waste. The streetlights and other equipment can be run on waste energy thus making itsustainable and also creating valuable savings in electricity bills.
  • Employment creation – the project will ensure that local employment is generated in the form of roles for waste collector, segregator, operators, maintenance etc. These will be long term employment opportunities.
  • Women upliftment – The focus will be to ensure women in rural areas are trained and educated on the correct waste disposal methods and the waste treatment plants can be operated by women. There will be focus on creating employment for local women.
